On April 9, 2025, Shelby Township lost one of its most beloved residents, Rusty Milne, at the age of 50. As the co-founder of Russ Milne Ford, Inc., Rusty was known for his visionary leadership and commitment to excellence. But to those closest to him, he was a loving father, devoted son, cherished brother, and a man who put family first.
Rusty’s children, Elizabeth and Russell, were the center of his world. He often spoke of them with pride and worked tirelessly to provide a life filled with joy, values, and opportunity. His guidance and presence were constant, forming a foundation his children will carry with them forever.
Born into the Milne family, Rusty was raised by parents Russell G. and Patricia Milne, who instilled in him a deep sense of responsibility and kindness. He maintained strong relationships with his siblings—Heidi (John) Helfen, Patty (Craig) Engebretson, and Thomas (Meri) Milne—ensuring family bonds remained unbreakable despite life’s demands.
Rusty’s connection with his in-laws was equally heartfelt. He shared a profound respect for his mother-in-law Susan and honored the memory of his late father-in-law, Louis Kraetke. The loss of brother-in-law Louis Kraetke III only deepened his sense of family. He remained close with Jonathan (Angela) Kraetke, always supporting those he loved.
Beyond his personal life, Rusty was admired for his contributions to the local business community. Russ Milne Ford, Inc. became a symbol of trust and reliability in the automotive world. Through fair dealings, community engagement, and a compassionate approach to business, Rusty set a high standard that inspired others.
His presence extended beyond boardrooms and showrooms—Rusty sponsored community events, supported local charities, and made sure that his business reflected the values he lived by: honesty, generosity, and service.
Rusty’s legacy will be celebrated during a visitation on Tuesday from 2–9 p.m. at Wujek–Calcaterra & Sons Inc., 54880 Van Dyke at 25 Mile Rd in Shelby Township. A funeral service will follow on Wednesday at 10 a.m.
