Kayla Nicole Carter, 24, of Eden, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2025, due to a tragic car accident. The news of her passing has left her family, friends, and community devastated. Kayla was a young woman who brought immense joy, love, and laughter to all who knew her. Her passing marks the loss of a bright light in the lives of so many.
Kayla was born on August 25, 2000, in Eden, Virginia, to Randy and Jennifer Snody. She was the light of her parents’ lives, and they affectionately called her “Pumpkin” and “Sunshine.” These nicknames spoke to her warm, cheerful, and nurturing nature. She worked as a bartender and waitress at Outback Steakhouse in Danville, VA, where she made countless friends and left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Kayla was incredibly close to her siblings: Emily, Madalynn, Jacob, Luke, Benjamin, and Nathaniel. She also held a deep affection for her Carter siblings, including Kadence, Haven, Allie, Eli, Autumn, and Josephine. Her love for her family was evident in every interaction, and they were the center of her world.
In addition to her immediate family, Kayla leaves behind her grandparents Roy and Debra Slaughter, Teresa Hundley, and her great-grandmother Gladys Gantt. She was predeceased by her grandparents Frank and Effie Snody, as well as great-grandparents Billy Gantt, Roy Slaughter Sr., Anna Slaughter, and Jimmy and Carleen Hundley. Kayla’s extended family and friends also mourn her passing deeply.
A funeral service will be held at Boone & Cooke Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 2 pm, with interment following at Goodwill Baptist Church Cemetery in Ridgeway, Virginia. The family will welcome friends from 12 pm to 2 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.
