The Orland Park community is in mourning following the tragic death of Mamoun Hakim, who passed away in a motorcycle accident on April 9, 2025, at the age of 26. Mamoun’s life, although short, was marked by an unrelenting passion for adventure, a deep love for his family, and a commitment to his friends that made him a cherished figure in the town.
Mamoun was born to Amina and Hakim Hakim, who remember him as a son who filled their home with laughter and joy. As the eldest of three children, Mamoun took on the role of protector and role model with a maturity beyond his years. His parents recall his dedication to his family, always stepping in to help with household tasks and supporting his siblings in any way he could. Mamoun’s younger siblings looked up to him not only for his advice but for his ability to remain calm and positive even in the face of challenges.
A graduate of the University of Illinois, Mamoun pursued a degree in software engineering and quickly established himself as a rising star in the tech world. His colleagues describe him as a brilliant problem solver, someone who approached every challenge with determination and creativity. Mamoun’s professional success, however, never overshadowed his commitment to maintaining strong relationships with his friends and family. He remained grounded, always willing to spend time with loved ones or lend an ear to anyone in need of support.
Outside of his career, Mamoun’s true passion lay in motorcycles. He spent much of his free time exploring the open road, often accompanied by a close-knit group of friends who shared his enthusiasm for riding. It was during one of these rides that the tragic accident occurred, taking Mamoun’s life far too soon. Despite the inherent dangers of the sport, Mamoun’s friends emphasize that he was always a cautious rider who prioritized safety. He understood the risks involved but never let that deter him from doing something he loved.
In addition to his love for motorcycles, Mamoun was an avid traveler and enjoyed discovering new places. Whether it was a weekend trip to the mountains or an international adventure, he was always eager to explore the world around him. His travels were often an opportunity for reflection, and he would return home with new perspectives and stories to share.
